Women farmers in Tanzania set an example of sustainability

In the Kusini District of Zanzibar, KIMBOJO women farmers use climate-resilient inputs, water and fertilizer irrigation systems, water reservoirs and nursery houses to increase their climate resilience and efficiency.

In partnership with the Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA), UN Women is continuing to champion inclusive and sustainable farming models in the region.

The technologies promoted in Zanzibar will be key to beneficiaries of the Joint Programme “Accelerating Progress Towards Rural Women’s Economic Empowerment” (JP RWEE) that UN Women is implementing with FAO, WFP, and IFAD.

Through sustainable horticulture interventions, we can help empower rural women and their communities in Tanzania and beyond.
