M & J Fire Drill Proposal

Wednesday, February 16, 2011 - in addition to being the bride-to-be's Grandma's 90th birthday, it was an exciting day for all!
Around 9:00 a.m. Miss Rosing was busily engaged in helping her students settle in for a fun day of learning when the school fire alarm went off. While quickly mustering her students out of the building she wondered why a fire drill had been planned for a cool and foggy February morning. As she lined up her students on the sidewalk with other students from the school she heard the siren of a fire truck approaching the school. Before she knew it the fire truck had stopped in front of where she and the students and staff were gathered. A lone fireman jumped off the truck and made his way through the lines of students to Miss Rosing. Shocked, she is trying to figure out what was going on when she realized it was HER FIREMAN, MIKE COOK who reached her and bent down on one knee. With students and staff looking on Mike asked Julieane to marry him and presented her with a lovely engagement ring. She said YES amongst many happy cheers and happy tears!!! At this point Mike and Julieane's parentswere able to leave their secret vantage point and become part of the surprise. It was a special moment for all.
Mike did a great job planning all the details and worked with the fire department and Julieane's principal to pull this off. Her third graders were thrilled -- as one little boy said "This is highly unexpected!" And one little girl with a cute pony tail just kept saying "This is so romantic!" A wonderful and special day that will not be forgotten.
