Air Experience Gliding at 617 GS RAF Manston Kent in the early 1970s

Описание к видео Air Experience Gliding at 617 GS RAF Manston Kent in the early 1970s

This video of Air Experience Gliding in vintage wooden gliders was produced by Flt Lt John Slack RAFVR(T) (RIP) former Commanding Officer of 1159 (Edmonton) Squadron Air Training Corps when, as a junior officer he was a member of 617 Gliding School (GS) based at RAF Manston Kent. Originally produced using a Super 8 camera it has subsequently been converted to MP3.
John, before his death in 2020, gave me permission to upload this recording which I have now done.
Kirby Cadet T31 (Mk3) XN 246, the subject of the video, is seen at the end hanging on the roof the museum (Solent Sky) in Southampton. However, it has recently been removed and purchased by Ed Cummings an ex-staff cadet and instructor at 617 GS. It is planned to restore the glider and loan it to the RAF Manston History Museum (www.rafmanston.co.uk).
