How To: Wire a Multi-Circuit 1/2 Switched Outlet

In this video we have a chance to wire a multi-circuit, 1/2 switched outlet. The homeowner, my brother, wants switched lights in his garage and is planning on having a garage door opener as well. Normal stuff, right? This gave me the opportunity to wire an outlet from two circuits. One circuit that will feed all the receptacles in the garage and another circuit that feeds all the lighting.
I made this outlet to have one half always on, constant power. The other to be on a switch to control one of the garage light fixtures.
Many times, I like to wire circuits in this matter to prevent the lights from dimming when something heavy in the outlet circuit turns on. We obviously want to make sure the garage door opener is connected to constant power.
