For a young kid growing up in Tehran, Batman's never-ending battle with the Joker became a symbol for what was happening around him, as his once-prosperous world began to collapse under the weight of nihilism, discord, and senseless violence.

Monsters like the Joker exist, but even without super-powers, we can defeat them by believing in the spirit of Batman.
