Tam Lin (Child Ballad #39)

This is the ballad that nobody wants to hear started at a singing session.

On the other hand, it is so famous that it has its own website:

This song breaks the previous record for the longest single take recording I have done by some 10 minutes, with the next longest probably being 'The Doleful Dance' at 11:10.

Thanks to Jeff Kalmar and Paul Harty for adding that Fairport Convention use
this tune for 'Farewell, Farewell', and also 'Willie O' Winsbury'.

I think Willie might be the earliest use, as it appears in this book as
'Lord Thomas of Winnesberrie' on Page 278. However, it is only the end of the melody
which matches (to my ear):
