Cardiff's City Perry Ng in Singapore for 'familiarisation stint' with NT squad

Speaking in front of the local media for the first time at the Kallang Football Hub, the Cardiff City defender shares more about himself, why he has hoped to play for the Lions and what this means to him.

Perry Ng, a key defender for Cardiff City, is currently into his third season with the Welsh club that plays in the English Championship. Born on 24 June 1996, Perry made his professional debut for Crewe Alexandra in 2015 after a loan stint at Hyde United. Over his time at Crewe, he made 182 appearances before joining Cardiff in January 2021.

At Cardiff, Perry has quickly established himself as a reliable presence in the backline and his commanding performances and ability to read the game have been instrumental in Cardiff’s defensive strategies. His outstanding contributions earned him the Cardiff Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards for the 2022–23 campaign.

Perry is eligible to play for the Lions through his late paternal grandfather, who was born in Singapore. If successful, he will be the first heritage athlete to gain Singaporean citizenship and make his mark on the national team. His desire to honour his family’s connection to Singapore and contribute to the country’s football scene is a driving force behind his aspirations.
