Bachman--Turner Overdrive is a Canadian rock group from Winnipeg, Manitoba, that had a series of hit albums and singles in the 1970s, selling over 7 million albums in that decade alone. Their 1970s catalog included five Top 40 albums and six Top 40 singles. The band has sold nearly 30 million albums worldwide, and has fans affectionately known as "gearheads" (derived from the band's gear-shaped logo).


LET IT RIDE
"Let It Ride" is a 1974 single by Bachman-Turner Overdrive, (BTO), written by Randy Bachman and Fred Turner. The song peaked at #23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the Canadian RPM charts.

Bachman-Turner Overdrive got the idea for this song when they were on tour. They were driving along a highway in the US when a few truckers decided to have some fun with the band, who were riding in a little van from Canada. The truckers boxed them in and slowed down to a crawl. When they finally turned into a truckstop the band followed them with the intent to give them a good talking to. Unfortunately, in the words of Randy Bachman, "The trucker looked like a Volkswagen with a head." The truckers laughed and told the band that they needed to learn to "Let It Ride." The song was written that night.
