Francis turbines, known for their high efficiency across a wide range of operating conditions, rely heavily on their movable guide vanes to precisely control water flow to the runner.

However, these guide vanes are susceptible to significant dynamic stresses, often manifesting as vibrations that can impact efficiency, structural integrity, and ultimately, the operational lifespan of the turbine.

To address this critical challenge, VESKi engineers recently undertook a specialized mission to a prominent hydropower plant. Their objective was to conduct comprehensive vibration measurements specifically on the Francis turbine's guide vanes. For this crucial task, they deployed their in-house developed hardware: the CoDiS Portable Measurement Unit (PMU).
