حضرت اسحاق علیہ السلام اللہ تعالیٰ کے جلیل القدر انبیاء میں سے ہیں۔ آپؑ حضرت ابراہیم علیہ السلام کے بیٹے اور حضرت یعقوب علیہ السلام کے والد تھے۔ آپؑ کا مبارک ذکر قرآنِ مجید میں متعدد مقامات پر آیا ہے، اور آپؑ کو صبر، تقویٰ اور اللہ پر کامل بھروسے کی اعلیٰ مثال کے طور پر پیش کیا گیا ہے۔
پیدائش کی بشارت
حضرت اسحاقؑ کی پیدائش خود ایک عظیم معجزہ تھی۔ جب حضرت ابراہیمؑ اور ان کی اہلیہ حضرت سارہؑ بڑھاپے کی عمر کو پہنچ چکے تھے اور اولاد کی امید تقریباً ختم ہو چکی تھی، تب اللہ تعالیٰ نے فرشتوں کے ذریعے انہیں خوشخبری سنائی کہ ان کے ہاں ایک بیٹا پیدا ہوگا جس کا نام اسحاق ہوگا، اور اس کے بعد اسحاق کے بیٹے یعقوب بھی ہوں گے۔
قرآن میں آتا ہے کہ حضرت سارہؑ نے تعجب سے کہا کہ کیا میں اس بڑھاپے میں اولاد جنوں گی؟ مگر فرشتوں نے فرمایا کہ یہ اللہ کا حکم ہے، اور اللہ جسے چاہے عطا فرماتا ہے۔ یوں حضرت اسحاقؑ کی ولادت اللہ کی قدرتِ کاملہ کی روشن دلیل بن گئی۔
تربیت اور نبوت
حضرت اسحاقؑ نے اپنے والد حضرت ابراہیمؑ کی نگرانی میں پرورش پائی۔ حضرت ابراہیمؑ خود توحید کے علمبردار اور باطل کے خلاف ڈٹ جانے والے عظیم پیغمبر تھے۔ اسی ماحول میں حضرت اسحاقؑ کی تربیت ہوئی۔ آپؑ نے بچپن ہی سے اللہ کی اطاعت، سچائی اور تقویٰ کا راستہ اختیار کیا۔
اللہ تعالیٰ نے آپؑ کو بھی نبوت سے سرفراز فرمایا۔ قرآنِ مجید میں اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے کہ ہم نے ابراہیم کو اسحاق عطا کیا اور دونوں کو ہدایت دی۔ اس سے معلوم ہوتا ہے کہ حضرت اسحاقؑ بھی اپنے وقت کے نبی اور ہدایت دینے والے تھے۔
دعوتِ توحید
حضرت اسحاقؑ نے اپنے والد کے مشن کو آگے بڑھایا۔ آپؑ نے بنی اسرائیل اور اپنے گرد و نواح کے لوگوں کو توحید کی دعوت دی، انہیں شرک اور بت پرستی سے روکا، اور اللہ واحد کی عبادت کی تلقین کی۔
آپؑ کی زندگی نہایت سادگی، عبادت اور اخلاقِ حسنہ کا نمونہ تھی۔ آپؑ نے لوگوں کو صبر، عدل اور امانت کی تعلیم دی۔
قرآن میں آپؑ کو “صالحین” میں شمار کیا گیا ہے، یعنی نیک بندوں میں سے۔ اس کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ آپؑ نہ صرف نبی تھے بلکہ اعلیٰ کردار کے مالک بھی تھے۔

Prophet Isaac (Ishaq, peace be upon him) was one of the noble prophets of Allah. He was the son of Abraham (Ibrahim, peace be upon him) and the father of Jacob (Yaqub, peace be upon him). His blessed name is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an in several places, and he is presented as a shining example of patience, righteousness, and complete trust in Allah.
The Glad Tidings of His Birth
The birth of Prophet Isaac (peace be upon him) was itself a great miracle. When Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) and his wife Sarah had reached old age and had almost lost hope of having children, Allah sent angels to give them the joyful news that they would be blessed with a son named Isaac, and after him, a grandson named Jacob.
The Qur’an mentions that Sarah was astonished and said, “Shall I bear a child in my old age?” But the angels replied that this was the command of Allah, and Allah grants whatever He wills. Thus, the birth of Isaac (peace be upon him) became a clear sign of Allah’s perfect power.
Upbringing and Prophethood
Prophet Isaac (peace be upon him) was raised under the guidance and supervision of his father, Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him), who was a great champion of monotheism and stood firmly against falsehood. In such a blessed environment, Isaac (peace be upon him) was nurtured with faith, obedience, truthfulness, and piety from an early age.
Allah also honored him with prophethood. The Qur’an states that Allah granted Abraham Isaac and guided them both. This shows that Prophet Isaac (peace be upon him) was a true prophet and a guide for his people.
The Call to Monotheism
Prophet Isaac (peace be upon him) continued the mission of his father. He called his people to the worship of One God (Tawheed), warned them against polytheism and idol worship, and guided them toward righteousness.
His life was a model of simplicity, devotion, and noble character. He taught patience, justice, honesty, and moral excellence. The Qur’an describes him among the “righteous,” indicating that he was not only a prophet but also a man of outstanding character.
The Birth of Prophet Jacob (peace be upon him)
Prophet Isaac (peace be upon him) was blessed with a son, Prophet Jacob (peace be upon him), who later became a great prophet himself. From his lineage came many prophets of the Children of Israel, including Prophet Joseph, Prophet Moses, Prophet David, and Prophet Jesus (peace be upon them all).
In this way, the lineage of Isaac (peace be upon him) became a source of immense blessing and divine mercy.
Patience and Trials
Although the Qur’an does not provide many detailed accounts of Prophet Isaac’s life, it is clear that like all prophets, he also faced trials and tests. He remained patient and steadfast while serving the religion of Allah.
