Aghori Baba Explains: "What is Aghori"

The moment I met Bhavani Baba.

I stumbled upon Bhavani Baba by chance during the opening ceremony of a Maha Kali Aghor temple in Hyderabad.

Over the years, I’ve met countless sadhus, monks, and self-proclaimed gurus in India, and to be honest, I’d let go of the romanticized ideas I held about them. I’d grown immune to their peculiar persuasions - as most of them were not fully engaged in spiritual life.

But this night was different.

Bhavani Baba was unlike anyone I’d encountered before. There was something about him. For the first time, I felt I was in the presence of someone actually touching the mystical. I have since been visiting him on and off for 4 years. Our relationship has deepened and I continue to learn from him. Not only from his way of saying things poetically and simply - but my time with him in person has shown me the impact of stillness and presence.
