In this lesson, we play over a ii V I in the key of G.

The goal is to create movement over seventh chords without jumping between big shapes.

I use three note chords built on strings six, four, and three. These are not always triads. They are small chord fragments that come from the harmony.

We start by outlining the chord tones on the low E string. Then we harmonize those notes using the D and G strings. This approach helps you stop sitting on one voicing. You learn how to move inside the chord instead of around it.

This works for rhythm guitar, comping, and building more musical parts over progressions.
