World Red Cross Day Celebration by Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka State Branch
Today, the Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka State Branch, celebrated World Red Cross Day at Jean Henry Dunant Hall, Red Cross Bhavan, Bengaluru.
The event was inaugurated by Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Hon'ble Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, by lighting the ceremonial lamp. In his address, he appreciated the humanitarian services and achievements of the Red Cross and reaffirmed his commitment to its mission. He stated, "I am always with the Red Cross. Together, we will work for the betterment of society and uphold the principles of humanity and brotherhood."
Shri Basurur Rajeev Shetty, Chairman-IRCS Karnataka State Branch who presided over the function, spoke on the significance of World Red Cross Day and elaborated on various activities undertaken by the Red Cross including Youth Red Cross (YRC), Junior Red Cross (JRC), First Aid training, Disaster Management, Optical Units, Family Welfare Centers, and the active involvement of district branches.
Sri T.R. Krishnakumar, Executive Director (Southern Region-II), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., was the Guest of Honour.

As part of the celebration:
125- kitchen sets were distributed to underprivileged families.
15 -hearing aids were presented to Oceanic College of Disability.
3 -wheelchairs were donated to children with disabilities.
An ambulance, donated by M/s Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., was flagged off by Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao.
Adding a cultural and inspirational touch to the event, students from St. Anne's Degree College for Women performed a thought-provoking skit on the birth of the Red Cross, illustrating the legacy of Jean Henry Dunant and the origins of the global humanitarian movement.

Felicitated for “founding the Rotary Udyog Red Cross Blood Centre at Ravi Kirloskar Memorial Hospital,” Peenya, Bengaluru.

Represented by Mr. Thanveer M., General Manager – HR, the organization was honored for “a decade of unstinted support” to the Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka State Branch.
This year's celebration was a true reflection of the Red Cross mission — promoting humanity, service, and solidarity across all levels of society.
