In this video, archaeologists from the Italian Archaeological Mission in Afghanistan will help us to understand why only fragments survive of the ancient Buddhist art of Afghanistan and how we can re-imagine complete forms. Dating approximately from the 2nd to the 9th century CE, most of this work was made of clay, stucco and wood. While artists and architects used these materials to create breath-taking masterpieces, they were fragile and especially vulnerable to erosion and decay.
