Building an RC plane from scratch is an incredible journey that combines aerodynamics, electronics, and hands-on craftsmanship. It's the best way to deeply understand how autonomous systems work.

Here is a simplified roadmap based on my experience:

*1. The Concept & Design*
Start with a simple design. A traditional high-wing trainer is the most stable for beginners. You can use software like Autodesk Fusion 360 or even just graph paper. Decide on your dimensions: wingspan, fuselage length, and where the Center of Gravity (CG) will be. This is crucial for stability.

*2. Materials & Structure*
For your first build, I recommend Depron foam or EPO foam. It's lightweight and easy to work with. You will need:
Foam board or balsa wood
A hobby knife and metal ruler
Hot glue or foam-safe CA glue

Focus on making the airframe rigid but as light as possible. Every gram counts when you are calculating your thrust-to-weight ratio.

*3. The Electronics (The Brain & Muscles)*
This is where my expertise in IoT comes into play. You need a power system and a control system:
*Brushless Motor & Propeller:* Calculate the right KV rating and prop size for your plane's weight.
*ESC (Electronic Speed Controller):* This regulates power from the battery to the motor.
*Servos:* You typically need two for ailerons/elevator and one for the rudder.
*Flight Controller (Optional but recommended):* To add stability or autonomous features (like GPS hold), I've used systems like Ardupilot or PX4. This connects directly to my passion for AI/ML in UAVs.

*4. Assembly & Wiring*
Clean wiring is essential for signal integrity. Route your servo wires neatly and secure your battery and flight controller. Ensure the Center of Gravity is exactly where you calculated it. You can check this by balancing the plane on your finger under the wings.

This is the most nerve-wracking but rewarding part. Find an open field, check your radio range, and trims. My advice: start with gentle turns and get a feel for the controls.
