We love Cafe Mozart from its historic background to the German Deli in front of the restaurant, to their food! Love the little details in the restaurant, especially the music decorations everywhere, the piano, and the symphony music background that they play at the restaurant.

You would never expect a fine restaurant/bar is behind the German Deli when you walk into the store. This restaurant was open since 1981 and you can probably tell its age from the furniture as you walk in.

We are not familiar with German beer, but this one that our server suggested us - Pilsner (she said it's a light drafted beer) was very delicious and it went so well with our meal! Highly recommend it if you've never had European beer or are not a big beer drinker.

We ordered one of the most popular dishes here, the sausage sampler. It came with sauerkraut, red cabbage, and potato salad. We loved every bite of this sampler. Their bratwurst sausages were delicious, slightly garlicky and not too salty (sometimes sausages/hot dogs are too salty). We especially love their Weisswurst (white sausage). We could taste a hint of lemon/citrus in it and the red cabbage went very well with all the sausages. Have to also point out their potato salad - pieces of sausages or ham added extra texture to the potato salad.

We also ordered the Viennese Schnitzel and we chose chicken. Viennese schnitzel is the original breaded deep-fried thin slice of meat. They have veal, pork, and chicken options. Our chicken schnitzel was fried just the right amount - nice and crisp on the outside and very tender on the inside. We had potato pancake as our side. It paired perfectly with the sour cream and apple sauce. The potato pancake was light and crispy, and it did not feel oily or heavy at all (even though it's carb!). We loved it, especially with the sweet apple sauce.

We went there on a Sunday afternoon and missed their live music that is performed Tuesday-Sunday from 6 pm. Will definitely be back next time for their music. :)

Parking: Cafe Mozart is located in NW Washington, D.C., just less than 10-minute walk from the White House. It did take us a while to find parking, but we made it. Parking could be a challenge depending on when you go there.

Surrounding area: Again, it's in downtown D.C., just a few blocks from the museums and the White House. Not a bad idea to take a walk after your delicious meal if you have time!

**All other classical/symphony music was played by the restaurant while we were eating there!**
