One of the tricks of the trade for event and journalistic photographers is the use of two cameras simultaneously to increase their speed and efficiency. It gives you the option to set one camera up with a wide angle lens and the other with a telephoto so whatever the situation, you always have the perfect lens mounted and don't have to fumble with your camera bag.

RainbowImaging has a dual camera neck strap out that hopes to bring this great convenience to those on a budget. Most pros will spend well over $100 for something like the BlackRapid dual camera strap. This model from RainbowImaging is nearly a carbon copy with the only difference being the lower cost (and quality) parts used.

Overall the unit performed well. The shoulder straps are adjustable to find a fit that will accomodate most people. You can also separate the two sections and use them as single camera straps for those times when you don't need two camera bodies with you. At the end of the two straps are mounting plates that screw into the bottom of your camera. At the bottom of the mounting plates are screws that will allow you to attach a tripod quick release plate. This means you can quickly go from having your camera mounted to this unit and then onto a tripod and back again.

Our main complaint came from the threaded screw used to mount the harness to the bottom of the camera. The threads on our unit were poorly manufactured and as a result couldn't completely screw into the bottom of the camera. No matter how much force was applied it never screwed more than half way. This same result was reproduced on multiple cameras.

For the money it's hard to go wrong with this strap. Hopefully the issues we had were manufacturing issues with our specific unit and not representative of all the units. If you're on a budget, give the RainbowImaging unit a try and drop a comment below and let us know how it worked out for you.
