Volcanoes & Mud: Mud Pots or Mud Volcanoes? A geothermal hotspot, and not far from the Salton Sea, you will find spurting towers of mud, boiling ponds and popping volcanic vents. You may also find SoCals 5 'active' volcanoes.

Boiling mud pots, steaming ground, roaring funerals and so for gas surrounds you as you explore for the volcanic history of Southern California. Tied to its groundwater, this place can produce more geothermal energy and we can possibly imagine and its part of the oldest section of the San Andreas Fault. Come with me and let's explore this hydrothermal landscape only two hours away from San Diego, in the heart of the southern California desert, and in the land of earthquakes.
