Outdoor Research Ferrosi Pants Review

It is always hard to find the pair of hiking pants that is right for you. Do you need them for warmth, protection? Or maybe flexibility and stretch to add in some scrambling and climbing? There are a lot of options out there and I had the chance to test out the Outdoor Research Ferrosi Pants. Here are my thoughts on the versatile hiking pant.

Stretch - These might be the most flexible and stretchy pants that I have ever tried out. They are made with 14% spandex which helps with flexibility. I think they would be great for anyone who likes to hike with the occasional scramble and climbs mixed in. I was able to do any motion from deep knee bends to stepping up on boulders with no restrictions at all. They are probably way more flexible than I am!

Wind and Water Resistance - I tested these mostly in the spring in Colorado which can get very windy and muddy. The pants did a great job of blocking the wind. They are a majority Nylon which helps provide that wind break. I didn't get into any serious rainstorms but these did deal with a lot of mud and slushy snow on the trails and I never had a problem with the moisture making through.

Recycled Materials - The Ferrosi pants incorporate 46% bluesign approved recycled Nylon which I always love to see with outdoor gear!
