Kalamuni Temple in Munsiyari

The Kalamuni temple sits at the highest point on the road to the town, higher than the town itself. Many trekkers assemble here to trek further and camp amidst the enduring beauty of the hills. One can have a gorgeous panorama of the Panchachuli peaks and the dusk wrapped in multicolour hues that looks mesmerising from here.

Inside the Temple

Many old idols of Hindu gods and goddesses such as Kali, Shiva lingam and Ganesha have been kept inside the sanctum santorum of the temple. Apart from this, one can also see the effigy of saint Kalamuni installed inside the temple.

Kalamuni Temple nestled on the Kalamuni Top at 9,500 feet above sea level is located on the main route to Munsiyari from Birthi Falls. The temple is only 16 km away from Munsiyari and one can drive or hire a cab to reach there. Buses to the nearest cities like Champawat, Almora, Tanakpur and Haldwani can be easily available from ISBT Anand Vihar Delhi, from where you can hire a taxi to reach Munsiyari. Tanakpur railway station at 274 km is the nearest railhead from Munsiyari. Taxis to Munsiyari are available from this railhead. Pantnagar airport at 313 km is the closest air connectivity from here. Taxis to Munsiyari are easily available from this airport.
