The candidates for the Match of the Day Goal of the Season accolade in 1985-86, won by Bryan Robson for his volley when playing for England against Israel. I think all the goals here are from the second half of the season owing to the TV blackout in the opening months of the campaign.

Other candidates were Ian Rush (Liverpool), Jesper Olsen (Man United), Gordon Davies (Man City), Frank Stapleton (Man United), Glenn Cockerill (Southampton), Steve McMahon (Liverpool) and Johnny Metgod (Nottingham Forest).
