The GSTN recently released an advisory regarding the mandatory mentioning of HSN codes in the GSTR-1. This requirement is based on a GST notification released in October 2020. As per the notification, taxpayers will need to mention 4 or 6-digit HSN codes, depending on their turnover. The GST portal is implementing the changes in a phase-wise manner.
