Low cost carriers have completely changed the way the airline industry operates. By leveraging innovative practices, they drive down operating costs and pass the savings off to their customers, making air travel accessible to all. Today, there are nearly 100 low-cost carriers operating globally, many of which have demonstrated the ability to achieve and sustain profitability.

However, something you’ll notice is that almost all low cost carriers are localized - their operations are primarily short haul routes. A successful blueprint to long-haul, low cost air travel has remained elusive - many airlines who’ve tried it have failed miserably. And yet, one airline has recently had a breakthrough, developing a business model that can buck the trend. But, due to extenuating circumstances, it may never get the chance to really prove it. And, it might just be the world’s unluckiest airline. Let me explain…
