1. Avani Lekhara Shines with Gold at 2025 Para Shooting World Cup in Dubai
Avani Lekhara won the gold medal in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 event at the 2025 Para Shooting World Cup held in Al Ain, Dubai, defeating Anna Besnon (Sweden). Thailand’s Wannipa Leungvilai won the bronze. India also performed well in the Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 event — Akash won gold with a score of 223.1, Sandeep Kumar won silver, and with Rudransh Khandelwal, the Indian team won silver in the team category, finishing second after Iran.
2. NITI Aayog Launches ‘Reimagining Agriculture’ Roadmap to Boost Tech-Driven Farming
NITI Aayog’s Frontier Tech Hub launched the “Reimagining Agriculture” Roadmap in Gandhinagar to improve farming using advanced technologies. The roadmap focuses on climate-resilient seeds, precision agriculture, digital twins, and Agentic AI to improve farming outcomes. It also classifies farmers into three groups — Aspiring, Transitioning, and Advanced, so that technology support can be provided as per their needs. Developed with partners like BCG, Google, and CII, the roadmap aims to increase productivity, support farmers’ income, improve sustainability, and strengthen India’s agri-tech leadership in line with Viksit Bharat 2047.
3. India Withdraws from Ayni Airbase in Tajikistan, Ending Overseas Military Presence
India has fully withdrawn its presence from the Ayni airbase in Tajikistan, ending its only overseas military deployment, as the earlier joint-operation agreement with Tajikistan ended around four years ago. The Ayni airbase, located 10 km from Dushanbe, was modernised by India with a longer runway, fuel storage, and air traffic systems. The base played a strategic role for India in Central Asia, and was last used in 2021 to help evacuate Indians from Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover. However, the absence of a renewed agreement led to India’s complete exit from the base, marking the end of this strategic presence.
4. Asirvad Microfinance Appoints Gerard Pasangha as Co-CEO
Asirvad Microfinance Ltd, a subsidiary of Manappuram Finance Limited, has appointed Gerard David Manoj Pasangha as its Co-Chief Executive Officer (Co-CEO) to support the company’s growth and innovation plans. Based in Valapad, Kerala, he will focus on expansion, operational improvement, and developing new financial products for customers. Gerard Pasangha has over 30 years of experience in the financial sector and has earlier worked with IIFL Samasta, ING Life India, and Bharat Financial Inclusion Ltd, where he played key roles in promoting digital transformation and inclusive finance services.
5. 6 November – National Nachos Day
National Nachos Day is celebrated every year on 6 November to honour the popular Mexican snack known for its crispy tortilla chips topped with melted cheese and jalapeños. The dish was first created in 1943 by Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya in Piedras Negras, Mexico, when he quickly prepared the snack for unexpected guests.
