Domestic violence has no bias. It consumes a wide range of women in society. Listed below are the types of women that were represented on stage at Essence Gala.

****Belle Abuyo, Nellie Bethel & Raquel Cabrera created their own freestyle solos.

Every time I worked on this project alone I cried intensely. There was so much release through the pain and expression during this creative process. It was such a powerful spiritual cleanse.

The four women behind Nellie, yelling at her in the beginning, represent the silent strength. They are the women praying for your release from the abuse. They are the ones who know the struggle you are in but, can't do anything to help until you make the choice to get back up and fight back.

They are the silent support. Once an abused woman decides to rise and fight back. That's when all the silent support (friends, family, coworkers) raise their voice. The women on stage with Nellie were screaming encouragement into her ears. "Get UP! You Can Do It! DON'TGIVE UP! You're almost there!!! WE BELIEVE IN YOU!"

Only when she get's up can the abused woman realizes she isn't alone.
