Jason Crumer is a US noise artist from Oakland, California who's been active under his own name since the 2000s. His discography spans between harsh noise, industrial and power electronics to ambient, drone and more experimental elements, often across the same record or track.

Released 2 years after Let There Be Crumer, Disqualifier is, in my opinion, one of Jason Crumer's best records. Crumer makes the best use of all the skills he garnered over the years, to create the ultimate Jason Crumer album. The long droning build-up of the first three tracks (which are just basically three parts of a long song) eventually pays off really well, making it an ambient-noise masterpiece which wouldn't sound out of place in a Quake game. It then goes on to incorporate more industrial elements, in what might look like a throwback to JC's early recordings. The clever use of sampling and found sounds takes this album to the next level, providing quite a lot of structure to put order in the entropic chaos of noise. The electro-acoustic quality of the previous album also returns, in what's basically a jazz-influenced droning electro-acoustic piece on the second half of Side B. Shifting from the aforementioned track, the album closes with a shapeless ''planned improvisation'' that revolves around tribal ryhthms and somber, slow-moving jazz drones. Exquisite noise!
