The interview was conducted by Alina Sergachov, and filmed by Grace Dow, on July 12th, 2018 in Comfort Inn in Gander, Newfoundland.

After the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001, thirty-eight passenger jets plus four military planes were diverted to Gander as a result of the United States closing its airspace. The population of Gander at the time was 9,651 people. The town, and surrounding communities of Gambo, Glenwood, Lewisporte, Norris Arm, and Appleton, hosted 6,579 stranded passengers over the five days that followed. Writers Irene Sankoff and David Hein visited Gander on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and collected hundreds of hours of interviews with locals in Newfoundland, as well as passengers who were stranded there. These stories inspired the Canadian-produced Broadway musical "Come From Away".

In 2001, Brian Mosher was a high school media teacher as well as a reporter for Gander's community TV station. In "Come From Away", he is known as "Janice Mosher" - an amalgamated character inspired by Brian Mosher and Janice Goudie.
