The United States Geological Survey is reporting a 4.0 magnitude earthquake in southeastern Missouri. The quake originated in Williamsville, Missouri, Wednesday just around 8:53 p.m. and was felt throughout several nearby states.
Earthquakes of this magnitude are often felt, but usually don't cause any significant damage. The geological event strattled the line between a weak and moderate earthquake.
Reports have surfaced online of people feeling tremors as far away as Memphis, Tennessee. Geological scientists say that while it likely wasn't felt in Missouri's metropolitan centers, Kansas City and St. Louis, it may have been possible to feel a slight shake in each city.
If you felt the earth move near Poplar Bluff on Wednesday night, you aren't crazy.
