Commissioned length
As of October 14, 2024, 161 km out of the total 272 km length of the project has been commissioned.

Katra-Reasi section
Work on the remaining 17 km stretch of the Katra-Reasi section has started.

Banihal-Sangaldan section
The 48 km Banihal-Sangaldan section was dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 20, 2024.

Katra-Sangaldan section
Works on the remaining 63 km Katra-Sangaldan section are in an advanced stage of completion.

High speed trial
A 125 kmph high speed trial was conducted successfully between Banihal and Sangaldan on February 16, 2024.

Inauguration
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first electric MEMU train between Baramulla and Sangaldan on February 20, 2024.

T50 tunnel
The T50 tunnel, India's longest transport tunnel at 12.77 km, is in operation between Khari and Sumber railway stations.
