General Ved Prakash Malik, PVSM, AVSM, served as the 19th Chief of Army Staff and was the Army Chief during the Kargil War aka Operation Vijay which included the Battle of Tiger Hill.

Gen Malik also serves on the Board of Advisors of India's International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN).

In this episode of the KVKurious Podcast, General V P Malik talks about how the Kargil War came by as a surprise and how India fought against Pakistan in the Kargil War and won it. He explains the relationship between India, Pakistan and China, and the current situation at the northern border and LoC.

The General also discusses about the importance of military leadership being under political leadership like in India, unlike Pakistan, and its consequences on national security. He further elaborates how technology and Artificial Intelligence is critical to defence preparedness and how startups can contribute to the armed forces and achieving Atmanirbhar Bharat. He recommends transparency under right policies such that all citizens and private sectors be allowed to participate actively in strengthening our armed forces.

The General describes emotional strength and facing problems with grit as critical traits for team leadership. He explains how a leader should explain to the team, their scope of responsibilities, mission of the team and how they can exploit their success under the right circumstances.
