There’s been a big push to ban critical race theory from the nation’s schools in recent weeks.

CRT is a group of concepts used for examining the relationship between race and the laws and legal institutions of the United States. It centers on the idea that American history should be taught through the lens of racism, taking into account the ways that it has influenced policy.

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been one of the most outspoken critics of the theory, pushing the state's Department of Education to ban any lessons based on it. Now, he’s doubling down with the "Stop W.O.K.E. Act," which stands for Stop Wrongs to Our Kids and Employees.
