The true SSPX Resistance was born in 2012 when Bishop Fellay signed the Doctrinal Declaration accepting Vatican II and the New Mass as “legitimately promulgated.” This was the great betrayal, for it placed +Archbishop Lefebvre’s work under submission to the conciliar religion.
At first Bishop Williamson seemed to stand against this betrayal. But by 2013 his role was already shifting, and by 2014 it was undeniable. He began promoting so-called “Eucharistic miracles” from the Novus Ordo, defending alleged conciliar apparitions, and planting confusion about the very foundations of the crisis. Instead of uniting priests and faithful in a clear Catholic stand, his interventions scattered them into division, hesitation, and practical silence.
The results speak for themselves. The six bishops who trace their line through him now keep quiet on the core errors of Vatican II and the New Mass. What remains is a “fake resistance” that refuses to unmask Rome, refuses to defend +Archbishop Lefebvre’s uncompromising fight, and maintains an ambiguity that shields the 2012 betrayal.
