On The Run - Getaway - Game Walkthrough (all 1-10 lvl)

On the Run the Getaway is the next in the On the Run series of games and it's better than ever! The story, for what it's worth, is simple enough. The corporation is on your tail and you've got to escape them. You're thus put in control of a clunky little car that, while not particularly good looking, will serve you well enough as you tear down the roads of Vegas in your drive to make your getaway.

The game runs on the Unity engine, and you can thus expect some pretty good 3D graphics that are rather impressive for an online game. Granted, it's not quite at par with the best computer or console games, but for an online game they're more than sufficient to get the job done. The cars, trucks, buildings, and even helicopters are all rendered and modeled in great detail, making for an experience that is not only thrilling in its action, but also spiffy in its presentation.

The gameplay is simple enough, with the arrow keys propelling you throughout the different tracks as you try to get from the start to finish. You've got a special weapon which seems to be some sort of energy pulse (don't look at me, it's the game that gives you the weapon) that can knock back all of the vehicles around you. The car handles relatively well, but don't expect to be doing any amazing stunts with it. Rather, keep your wits about you and drive quickly, but carefully. The corporation cars will try to ram you off the road, smash you against concrete blocks, and in later levels even pull out guns and try to fill you full of hot screaming lead.

As if dealing with the black and red cars of the corporation wasn't enough, you've got to deal with normal traffic. There aren't any pedestrians or zombies (thank you Carmaggedon) for you to run over, but that's a bit of a blessing as you'll be so busy dodging the cars in your way that you won't have time to worry about those. There are, however, some things you can pick up along the way that can boost your score. There are also some interesting things along the road, like TNT which can be used to blast buildings apart and tear your opponents away from you.

Generally, the game is fairly challenging, but not so much as to be impossible to play for newcomers to racing games. Still, it's challenging enough to provide a good game for more experienced players. Further, it's a fairly long game, with each level being fairly different enough to provide good racing without getting dull. The difficulty also progresses at a steady pace as you go along. There won't be any sudden surprises that'll throw you off, but it definitely gets a whole lot more difficult with twistier courses, more baddies, and more traffic as the game progresses.
