Fryette demonstrates the dynamic range of the new Fryette Jazz Amp prototype.

"With the advent of electric guitar amplification came the challenge of meeting the needs of players of the day juxtaposed against the daring explorers who pushed these new tools to their limits, thereby challenging manufacturers to broaden their approach. Unfortunately, many companies were, like many today, more interested in demographics and profit margins than the demands of a few guitar crusaders. In this way amplifier offerings became compartmentalized, forcing players to adapt existing products and enhancing them with effects pedals and modifications.

With the Fryette Jazz Amp project, we explore the players of the groundbreaking jazz, blues and R&B eras. In doing so, we find an amazing amount of crossover where country players are exploring be-bop and swing styles, jazz guys exploring bluegrass and pop, blues guys exploring jazz and funk...

Producing an amplifier that pays homage to these pioneering eras might be challenging enough. Applying the additional restraint that it must do so with only one channel and four knobs requires a determined focus on the essential properties shared by all guitars, hollow and solid body alike.

We've posted a few demo videos showing the smooth, sophisticated side of this amplifier design. In this demo, we see the amplifier morph easily from sparkling classic blues, to roadhouse blues-rock territory into full blown, sonic meltdown -- and back, relying entirely on the guitar volume control and pick-up selector."

The amplifier was conceived, designed and built in 6 days from scratch.
