This film is a collection of seven short films from Philco that were shown at a product convention for Philco retail dealers, likely in 1964, as it features 1965 Philco products. The first film opens with an illustration of Philco stereo cabinets, and viewers see the Philco cabinet plant in Watsontown, PA (01:25). Inside, craftsmen use machines to cut wood. A man hand-rubs the wood finish of a stereo cabinet. There is an image of a solid-state circuit design cabinet (02:24), a Philco stereo turntable with scratchguard needle cover, and the new Philco Phonorama 500 (03:57). The film shows the lower priced 1723 series, models with lift-top cabinets (04:42), and the trendsetter cabinet. There is an image for a promotional deal of six 12-inch LPs with the purchase of a 1965 Philco Stereo, a picture of a hard-selling display, and a display of the Phonorama 500. Viewers see two second-room stereo speakers (06:54), Philco’s direct mail program materials, and a 60-inch Philco HIFI stereo in an all-wood cabinet. The second film features radios and phonographs. It opens with a graphic of sales data for radios and phonographs, then shows the display for what Philco dubs “Operation Exposure” (10:38), which showcases transistor radios and phonographs. Viewers see the Pony 6-transistor giftpack radio (11:00); pictures of other Philco AM radios; the AM/FM model 903 9-transistor radio; three different clock radios (12:45); three table-top radio models, including model 1002 (13:27); portable phonographs, including the 1400 series (14:00); an 8-transistor AM/FM personal radio; a solid wood full-feature clock radio (15:05); and an AM/FM table set radio. In the third film, viewers see the 1965 line of Philco Cool Chassis Television sets (16:25). Women build circuit boards for the televisions in a manufacturing facility. A man assembles a standard small screen television. Viewers see the Courier 16-inch Television (17:15) and its window banners for marketing purposes, the Philco Caravan Cool Chassis 19-inch portable television (18:18), and the Philco Starlight 19-inch series (19:27). This film also features a look at the new 1965 Woodstock series (20:34), 23-inch table model series, the Philco 9516 Cool Chassis package television, a 23-inch Custom Cool Chassis television set in a Mediterranean-style cabinet, and the 4946 Stereo Home Theater television. The fourth film for the dealer convention highlights Philco’s new color television line and marketing campaign. It opens with shot of fall foliage around a pond, followed by footage of a Philco engineer working on a television set (24:24). A salesman adjusts color tv sets in a store. A man works on tv (25:40). The film then shows the line of 1965 color televisions: a Danish modern design; a custom color tv model with sliding wood doors; and a Philco model 5912 (27:17) with the Danish style in a walnut veneer. Viewers see the new logo for Philco color television—a colorful butterfly (28:22), as well as new advertising displays featuring the butterfly logo. In the next film, viewers learn about Philco’s national and local advertising campaign. The film shows an air-conditioning ad (33:23), console stereo and television print ads, a color tv ad (35:18), and outdoor billboard ads (36:04). In the second-to-last film, viewers see the Philco appliance assembly plant in Connersville, IN (37:04). Forklifts move crates, men assemble fridges, and the film shows an image of the new Galaxy High-Oven Range (38:10). Viewers also see an image of a Philco Instant Cold refrigerator, the Philco Noiseless Air Conditioner (39:34), and pictures of Philco automatic washers and dryers and wringer washers (40:30). The final film of this series features a Philco executive sitting behind a desk and addressing viewers about the current line of products and new products Philco plans to roll out. Viewers see shots of a 12-inch television set that will be featured at the World’s Fair, footage of a woman taking a 9-inch portable set from a convertible (44:48); a Philco plant where color television sets are produced, a man working in a Pennsylvania plant on a color television set.
