This is a brilliant game that I've been playing lately. Ever since I saw the first trailer it looked like something I'd enjoy, but I was slightly put off by both the fact it was in early access (as I prefer to wait for full releases), along with it being a roguelike. I've never been huge on roguelikes, but this one just clicked with me, and I'm glad I didn't wait. The combat feels excellent, the gunplay is exceptional, and it's challenging enough to begin with. It takes a little while to get used to the systems and how to approach it, but overall it's extremely fun once you do. So I highly recommend it, despite it still being in early access.
I originally cleared all of the content in the game with a more precision based setup at around level 20, using Hypnosis and chaining the charged attacks, along with swapping between Cursed Bell and Iron Cross. While it's very effective and makes most encounters very safe, it's not as interesting to play or watch imo (along with the loud audio from the charges), so I swapped to this setup that lets you play closer range. It does have some drawbacks, but it's still very effective overall. Not the fastest or best clear here as I'm still getting used to the game, but it felt decent enough while I'm still learning.
As for my thoughts and future plans with this game, I'll certainly be playing it some more for fun. I'll probably post the other two maps being full cleared over the next week or so, and wait for more updates and future maps before posting more. My PC is still having issues and it's hard to get a full clear without it crashing (not a fault of the game, just my CPU), but that should be resolved early in the new year. So hopefully it'll play nice long enough to get the other two maps recorded before then. I might also do no damage clears in the future, but that'd probably require a very different approach from range.
Lastly, as some feedback on the game: Combat-wise it's pretty much spot on, but stamina management becomes a bit of an issue if you're not invested into it. It certainly feels like the most important stat to me. It's also a little strange having some weapon shots use your stamina, and I think I'd enjoy it a little more if jumping didn't take stamina. The latter I can understand from a balancing perspective, as it'd be much easier to dodge everything. But for shotgun draining staminu, I feel makes it hard to run a close range build as effectively as you'd like. Perhaps that's the intent and design choice, but it slows the combat down a bit for me. I also played this before the brewing update and I miss the Shieldbearer boss over this one for Scarlet Coast.
Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what future content is to come.
