On the Left - Team USA
Despite some successes in the Men's Sabre Individual category, Team USA has struggled with the Men's Sabre Team category for a long time. Team USA has never won a World Championships Medal in this category. In 2016, Team USA won and made podium at a few World Cups, but after that season they have struggled to find the same success.

Then in the Season of 2022-2023, Daryl HOMER stopped competing due to injury. This has meant that Eli DERSHWITZ (now the 2023 Individual World Champion) has had to step up as the anchor. The team also dropped old members for three new members. Colin HEATHCOCK - an incredible fencer who won everything one could win at the Junior level and now gaining increasingly impressive senior results - changed his nationality from Germany to USA for that sweet PanAmerican Olympic Qualification. Mitchell SARON - former Junior World Number 1 - who enjoys counter-parries and an animal based diet. Andrew DODDO (pronounced as "Daddo"), who is now the reigning Senior PanAmerican Champion.

Besides DERSHWITZ, none of the other members are ranked in the top 16.This new team has been doing better than previous season, even winning Silver at the Madrid World Cup. Team USA also won Bronze at the Warsaw World Cup with Daryl HOMER, Grant WIllIAMS, DERSHWITZ, and HEATHCOCK.

On the Right - Team France
France also has a strong team of mostly younger fencers. Sebastian PATRICE and Maxime PIANFETTI were both very strong juniors who are now winning results at the senior level. PATRICE won a bronze at this year's Plovdiv European Championships and is now ranked 14th individually.
PIANFETTI won Silver at the 2022 Cairo World Championships, and this season, he won two individual Bronzes - one at the Budapest World Cup, and the other at the Madrid World Cup. The most senior member of the team - Bolade APITHY - is still very good. He is ranked 6th individually.

Team France is the reigning European Champion.
