Bream Bay School of Rock 2023

‘School of Rock’ was an event which ran over two days in the Bream Bay College Music Department. This was a kāhui ako initiative that BBC has run for the last 3 years with different foci. There has been Leadership and Inventor events with this being the first time holding a Music Focus. It is targets/supports gifted students by providing them with opportunities to develop their gifts and talents with like minded students in ways they wouldn't get to in their own schools.
Over two days we had 10 students from One Tree Point, Ruakākā and Waipu Primary schools who were mixed up and put into 5 different bands and mentored by Year 9 & 10 and a few senior Bream Bay College students.

It benefits over 40 kids from across the kāhui (and wider as part of the expectation is the kids and teachers share their learning back in their school).
