Описание к видео North Carolina Forecast: Scattered storms in Friday and weekend forecast, highs in the 90s

Scattered afternoon thunderstorms are in the forecast Friday, similar to what's typical for June. The chance starts low around noon at 20% then increases to a peak 30% chance between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Similar conditions are expected for Saturday. Both Friday and Saturday will be hot, with highs in the mid 90s.

With a 60% chance for storms, Sunday features the greatest chance for showers and storms. The entire state is under a Level 1 risk on Sunday, with gusty winds being the primary threat. According to WRAL meteorologists, some showers and storms could linger into Monday, but high temperatures will drop into the upper 80s thanks to a passing cold front. Heat, heat and more heat is in store this weekend.

The high Wednesday reached 103 degrees at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, making it the hottest day of the year so far and breaking the record for the hottest June 26 on record, which was set in 1952.

We desperately need rain to ease the drought conditions that these hot temperatures will worsen, so it's a good thing rain is in the forecast this weekend. Storms will be possible Saturday afternoon and evening, but the best chance for rain comes on Sunday. It's also important to remember pavement temperatures will be very hot for our furry friends, so try to keep them on the grass as much as possible.
