🚨 City Council Update – May 6th

South Lake Tahoe has delayed moving forward with major VHR (Vacation Home Rental) changes after the overturn of Measure T. While proposals were discussed like removing the cap, determining an appropriate buffer, requiring interior noise monitoring technology, and the big topic—in person check ins, (just to name a few of the updates) no final decisions have been made.

There was extensive public comment toward the beginning of the 6 hour meeting about in person check-ins. This quickly became a complex discussion. Mainly because of concerns related to occupancy, rules/expectations of renting in residential areas, plus the importance of respecting wildlife and how to properly secure trash/recyling from animals.

Long story short…there is more to come. Here are a few dates to remember…

📅 Second reading: June 17th
⏳ Moratorium ends: June 19th
