Employment Law: "Should I quit my job or wait for them to fire me?"

JP addresses a common question. Lots of people have this idea that they should stay in a terrible job and wait until they get fired -- because that will make their legal case stronger. That's a bad idea.

So many people are on the brink of a nervous breakdown over what's happening at their work. We get these inquires all the time. People are depressed. Have anxiety. Not sleeping. Nervous breakdown. But they don't quit a job that has clearly become intolerable for them because some relative or some lawyer told them to wait and get fired--- because it would be better for their theoretical someday lawsuit.

That's not a healthy way of making life decisions. This whole thing isn't a legal question. It's a life question. At the end of the day, you have to do whatever is best for you and your family. We all have bills to pay. Economics are real. But there are other jobs out there and you can always start your own business.

If you're completely miserable, your mental health is shot, and you're on the brink of a nervous breakdown -- then the answer is clear. Time to leave.
