Introduction : Foods which are to be avoided if you have thyroid imbalance. Healthy balanced Thyroid and generalised health. Foods to include to increase metabolism.

1. Soya products : tofu, soya milk, soya bean, Edamame, Miso, Tempeh, soy milk, Vegetarian meat. they contain Isoflavones chemical. They disturbs the hormone secretion and reduces absorption of medication.
2. Cruciferous Vegetables : Turnips, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflowers. they are goitrogens ( Goitrin, Thiocyanate and Flavonoid )containing vegetables. They reduce medicine and iodine absorption . This vegetables can be eaten in moderations especially after cooking. 100 to 150 grams vegetables can be eaten.
3. Gluten- Protein has difficulty in digestion. Coeliac disease Autoimmune disease also has gluten insensitivity . it is found in Wheat, rava, barley, maida, refined flour, pasta, bread and bakery items.
eat whole grains whenever possible and avoid processed meal.
4. Fried food : thyroid patients has cholesterol issue. fried food increases cholesterol and can cause weight gain.
5. White sugar : processed white sugar can be habit forming and causes weight gain and cause sugar imbalance. it causes slow metabolism.
6. Processed food : pickles, papads, ready to eat food. they have high sodium content and cause hypertension.
7. High fibre : can reduce thyroid medicine absorption. 25 to 40 grams per day is fibre allowance for a adult.
8. Coffee : Caffeine is stimulant and reduces thyroid medication absorption. 1 to 2 cup per day is recommended.
9. Alcohol.
10. Peach, Strawberry, Peanuts, Walnuts, turnip, radish, spinach can affect thyroid health.
