When students from Sunnyside Environmental School learned that Orca Whales along the Oregon coast were endangered and they decided to act. The ‘Year of the Ocean’ class organized and researched the Killer Whale then appeared in front of the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to present their case to save the NW resident. The commission is taking input on the possibility of listing the whales as being endangered and needing protection.
