HAPPY 110th BIRTHDAY EARL WILD!

This historic recital from 2005 is now available for the very first time here on YouTube.

This concert is very special in many ways.
It was the first time the beautiful Shigeru Kawai piano was used on the Carnegie Hall stage in a piano recital and the fact that Mr. Wild had just recovered from a very difficult quadruple heart bypass one year before this recital (September 2004).
After his extensive operation at age 89, his coordination was so bad that he was unable to button a shirt with his fingers but he was determined to perform all the recitals planned for his 90th birthday year. He went to the piano everyday painstakingly relearning how to play the piano. He was doing very well with his recovery when in September 2005 Mr. Wild had a small stroke (a TIA) which was another hurdle he needed to overcome.

The results of his efforts, as you will hear is quite miraculous. Romanticism and elegance abound in this evenings recital.
