With the kind donation of Mr. Ioannis Georgiou Vakalikos, former Notary of Katerini, we had the honor and pleasure to undertake the Digital Transformation of one of the operating rooms at the General Hospital of Katerini, which now offers:

• Flexible management of the medical devices’ signals and their display on surgical monitors,
• Direct connection with the Radiology Department for the retrieval of the patient’s preoperative images,
• Recording of the surgical procedure,
• Live streaming of multiple video signals for educational or strictly medical purposes,
• Teleconferencing capabilities between the surgical team and any organization or individual,
• Future connection and upgrade of additional operating rooms within the hospital.

We sincerely thank all hospital staff, as well as all collaborating companies that contributed to the realization of this project.
We would also like to express our gratitude to the Director of the General Hospital of Katerini, Mr. Chatzigeorgiou, the Head of the Biomedical Technology Department, Mr. Tsimponidis, and the Head of the Surgical Department, Mrs. Manolakaki, for their time and participation in the interviews.

Special recognition is owed to Mr. Vakalikos, who, through his invaluable donation, made possible the creation of the first Digital Operating Room in Pieria and the first to be installed in a public hospital in Northern Greece, thus ensuring even better healthcare services for the citizens.
The operating room is dedicated to the memory of his parents, Georgios and Afroditi, and his sister, Erasmia.
