Pat and Chris take on a 3-day winter traverse through the stormy snow-covered backcountry of Kosciuszko National Park, visiting three remote alpine huts: Bradley and O’Briens, Round Mountain, and Linesmans Hut — all rebuilt after the 2020 bushfires.

Starting at Cabramurra and descending the steep winding roads to Tumut Ponds then back up again, climbing up into the stormy snowline. Thunder, lightning, wind gusts over 70km/h, and freezing rain — not exactly ideal camping conditions. Traversing plowed roads left by recent search and rescue missions, navigating through whiteouts on exposed ridgelines, and finding warmth and relief in huts built by dedicated volunteers and park staff.
