Gundecha Brothers, Kabir bhajan

Dhrupad Concert by the Gundecha Brothers in Austin, TX. May 22, 2010.
This is the last part of the final piece, Kabir bhajan, of the concert (to fit into YouTube's 10 minute limit).

This music is of an old Hindustani (north Indian) form called 'Dhrupad'. The Indian drum is called a 'Pakhawaj'. The driving energy of the drum complements the vocals, creating an excitement and feel to the piece that is more than the drum or the vocals could do on their own. This 'groove' can make this piece enjoyable for people who normally don't relate to classical Indian music.

The left side of the Pakhawaj produces a deep bass. Listen with a decent subwoofer or a good set of headphones to get the full effect.
