Happy Dasara to all of you! On the fourth day of Navaratri, here is a composition in the raga Sri, which is a very auspicious raga.
Saami ninne - Sri - Adi - Karur Devudu Iyer

The varnam Saami ninne is composed in Raga Sri and set to Adi tala of 8 beats (divided as 4+2+2). It is a composition of Karur Devudu Iyer.

Sri is an ancient raga that portrays tender sentiments such as peace, devotion, romance, and pathos. It has five notes in the ascending and six (or seven) notes (in zig-zag order) in the descending. In the Tyagaraja school, the note Da is not used in this raga but in the Dikshitar school it is used sparingly as part of the ‘Pa Da Ni Pa Ma’ phrase. The scale of Sri raga is derived from the parent scale Kharaharapriya and has the notes –
