Welcome to my Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous playthrough! In this special episode, I show you how to deal with the Shadow Demon in the Market Square basement.

In the basement, you will find the bodies of a few fighters. When you loot them, they carry a scroll of faerie fire and a scroll of see invisibility.

That’s actually a major hint towards the invisible demon but I completely ignored that in my playthrough.

A bit further in the cellar, you will see a blockade that can be cleared by clicking on it. When you do this, however, the invisible demon will summon a dretch. And another one, and so on every time you click.

You will also receive a bit of damage every time you try to clear the blockade and the text log will actually show you that it’s a shadow demon doing the damage. Another thing I completely missed in my initial playthrough.

So the key here is to cast the See Invisibility scroll and direct it towards some wood that is stacked up against the wall of the basement.

If for some reason you don’t have access to the scrolls anymore, there’s another way to make the shadow demon appear. And that is with an area effect spell. Something like grease or web in my case did the trick. Even if I didn’t aim it properly in my playthrough as you can see, the demon still appeared.

Keep in mind that the shadow demon is incorporeal which means that it takes no damage from normal non-magical weapons, and halved damage from spells and magical weapons. The only way it takes full damage is if one of your weapons has the ghost touch ability.

There you go, that’s the solution for dealing with the shadow demon and clearing the blockage in the market square basement.
