LA wildfires: how the devastation is spreading

The two most destructive wildfires in Los Angeles remained completely uncontained on Thursday morning, but had not grown significantly in size since Wednesday night.

The Palisades fire has spread over 17,234 acres and destroyed thousands of structures including Hollywood actors’ homes. The Eaton fire, which began in hills above Pasadena, has burned through 10,600 acres in northern Los Angeles. At least five people died. The Hurst fire which began on Tuesday night just north of San Fernando covered 855 acres and is 10 per cent contained. The Lidia fire which swept through 348 acres in the Acton area north of Los Angeles has been 40 per cent contained.
